What's it worth?? The harsh reality, and you've heard it before, is an item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. The best thing you can do is to start by researching what you have and gather any documents you can find related to the antique in question. The internet has a wealth of information available and I've provided some links for some good books to start with. Google has an excellent search. I've provided one here for you on antique pricing. It's difficult to get a good estimate of the value of an item online. To be sure the person evaluating your antique really needs to hold the item in their hands to get a close look at the item. It's probably best to only deal with an accredited trusted source. The ASA or American Society of Appraisers is one such accreditation. It's one recognized source to look for an appraiser. One of the best things you can do to get an accurate appraisal is to hire an appraiser knowledgeable in the area related to the item you are trying to determine the value. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and bring the related research you've done. All this will help in the appraisal process.
